And honestly? That's exactly how we like it. We've been doing this for over a decade, and we're still as excited about green roofs and passive solar design as we were on day one.
Look, back in 2013, a couple of us were sitting in a coffee shop in Gastown, sketching on napkins and complaining about how most new buildings looked the same. Vancouver was growing fast, but where was the character? Where was the commitment to actually living sustainably, not just slapping some solar panels on a roof and calling it a day?
So we started Javelorn Nexus with a pretty simple idea - what if we designed buildings that people actually wanted to live and work in, while genuinely respecting the environment? Not just meeting the minimum code requirements, but pushing what's possible with sustainable design.
Fast forward to today, and we've worked on everything from compact residential projects to large-scale commercial developments. We've messed up, learned a ton, and gotten better at what we do. Our projects have won some awards, which is cool, but what really matters is when clients come back years later and tell us their building still feels right.
Every site tells a story - the way light hits it, how wind moves through, what the neighborhood needs. We don't impose a signature style because that'd be missing the point entirely. Your project deserves something that responds to its context, your needs, and yeah, the planet's needs too. It's architecture, not a rubber stamp operation.

Principal Architect, AIBC
Started this whole thing because she was tired of seeing cookie-cutter condos. Still sketches by hand, which the younger folks find hilarious.
Sustainable Design Lead
The guy who geeks out over R-values and thermal bridging. If there's a more efficient way to do something, Marcus will find it - usually at 2am.
Urban Planning Director
Thinks about how buildings talk to each other and the street. Priya's the reason our projects actually make neighborhoods better, not just fuller.
Design Technology Specialist
Our BIM wizard and computational design nerd. James makes sure we're using the latest tech without losing the human touch in our work.
We've got project architects, interior designers, environmental consultants, and a crew of talented interns who keep us on our toes with fresh perspectives. Everyone here's picked because they give a damn about doing good work.
Friday afternoons, you'll probably find us arguing about whether a detail works or debating the merits of cross-laminated timber versus steel. Sometimes both. We take the work seriously but try not to take ourselves too seriously.

Your site, your needs, your neighborhood - that's what drives the design. Not our portfolio shots.
We're not interested in greenwashing. If we're calling it sustainable, we can show you the data and the payback period.
Trends come and go. We design stuff that'll still work and look good in 30 years, not just Instagram today.
No architect-speak unless you want it. We'll tell you what's possible, what's not, and why. Budget and timeline? We're upfront about both.
Whether you've got detailed plans or just a napkin sketch, we're here to figure out what's possible. Coffee's on us.
